About Counseling With Courtney, PLLC
Welcome to Counseling with Courtney, PLLC (CWC)! I hope you're so proud of yourself for taking these initial steps in exploring the therapy supports available to you!
CWC is owned and operated by Courtney McGrue, a licensed social worker and native to the PNW. I completed my BA and MSW both from the University of Washington - Seattle and have gained over 15 years of social service experience in various arenas, including teen residential facilities, hygiene centers for the unhoused, the child welfare system, elderly medical care, birth doula services, grief support, group facilitation, curriculum development, crisis support, and providing clinical supervision to emerging professionals.
As a therapist, I believe in a direct, yet compassionate approach to counseling, utilizing diverse therapy modalities to meet your needs. I aim to provide a space where honesty and empathy go hand in hand; a safe place where we can have real conversations that foster insight and growth. My goal is to understand not only your challenges, but also the full context of your life, experiences, relationships, and the unique factors that shape you. I aim to help you make sense of your experiences and move toward meaningful change. Therapy with me isn't about quick, easy fixes, but about deep understanding, practical strategies, and discovering what truly works for you.

Therapy Approach
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Perinatal Mental Health, and Anticipatory Grief and Bereavement. I draw from several therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Attachment-based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I work from a trauma-informed lens and a social justice framework, which also inform my approach to clinical supervision. Together, we will uncover the best method to support your needs and goals.
While experienced working with a diverse population and through many mental health challenges, my main areas of focus are anxiety, depression, anticipatory grief and bereavement, identity exploration, internalized racism, life transitions, perinatal challenges, work stress and burnout.
I am most passionate about working with BIPOC, teens, and young adults.
Services and fees
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling services are available for teens and adults at a private pay rate of $160 per 55-minute session. I am currently paneled with Aetna, Optum, and Premera insurances. For other insurances, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement from your provider. I encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider directly to inquire about the benefits available to you. If cost is a barrier, please contact me to discuss if sliding scale options may be suitable for you.
As a client, please be prepared to engage in virtual support, as all individual counseling services are conducted remotely via a secure video conferencing platform.
Clinical Supervision
If you're just starting your clinical career or working toward licensure, I can provide clinical supervision in Washington State at a rate of $100 per 60-minute session. I am passionate about supporting other clinicians, so if cost is a true barrier, please reach out and we can discuss if other options are available and appropriate.
Professional Services
Please reach out directly to discuss hiring for professional services, such as consultation for clinicians and agencies navigating complex cases, facilitating support groups, developing group curriculums, teaching tailored trainings and workshops, speaking engagements, or other contract work.
